CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

St. Joseph's Preparatory School--a Catholic, Jesuit college preparatory school serving nearly 1,000 young men--is seeking qualified candidates for an experienced Chief Financial Officer.
As a key member of the President's Leadership Counsel, and within the context of the mission of the Prep, the Chief Financial Officer plays a significant strategic role in the overall management and financial planning of the school. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all finance-related activities of the school. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting and budgeting, strategic planning, and debt placement and compliance. In addition, the CFO also has supervisory responsibility for human resources, facilities management, food service and information technology.

The CFO is responsible for the overall financial operations for the Prep. This includes accounting and finance; budgeting; treasury and cash management; debt placement, negotiation and compliance; planning and analysis; management of legal matters; insurance and risk management and long range planning. Specifically, this executive will be responsible for ensuring that all financial systems and controls reflect best practices, as well as implementing financial controls and programs that enable the ongoing strength of the school.

The CFO oversees the preparation of the annual operating budget, including proposed tuition levels, for the school ensuring that the budget is balanced or in a slight surplus position. The CFO ensures that the budget is prepared based on sound financial assumptions and projections. The CFO is also responsible for capital budgeting. The CFO prepares agendas and discussion material for Finance Committee meetings, which are held 4 times annually, and for finance topics discussed at Board of Trustees meetings, which are also held 4 times each year.

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following:
Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or economics; MBA a plus; Certified Public Accountant preferred;
10+ years progressive experience in finance and management. Earlier career progression from a public accounting firm is desirable;
A strong commitment to the philosophy, mission and core values of Jesuit education;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven leadership at the managerial level.
